When traveling, I make it a priority to get my workout in every day.  I can make do with just an open area in the parking lot or even a 6 foot area in my room, but I will always at least go to the fitness center provided and see what they have to offer.  Most hotel gyms have a rack of dumbbells and at least a small area uncluttered by useless universal machines, and a treadmill.

Here is a workout that I came up with that can be done anywhere that you can find a pair of dumbbells.  I named this after my daughter because it deserved a name that I would not forget.  Looking through the history of my results on this one, I have done it several times during breaks in interviews for Saltwater Experience, in Las Vegas, Orlando, and various other hotels around the country.  This one has been done more often on the road than back at the Garage.

Hanna

10 hang squat cleans with 50 lb dumbbells

10 clap pushups

x 10 rounds for time

Not everyone is going to be able to do this one with a pair of 50's.  In fact, I would not suggest it.  The weight makes a huge difference on this workout.  I did this one with 45's at first and have graduated to 50's.  Many of the people that I have done this with prefer 35's or even 25's.

With 45's I have done this one in 14:35 but when I step up to 50's this workout takes between 19-21 minutes.

Put this one in your travel file or try it at home.

All the best,

Tom Rowland
