THE FG KNOT (DELPH/SEBILE)
I won't lie…this knot is a little more complicated that the others we have learned so far. This is why I started with the Uni Knot. While the Double Uni ties braid to fluorocarbon just like the FG Knot is definitely a little stronger and undoubtedly is much smoother through the guides but it is also far more difficult to tie.
I keep the FG knot for special situations where I need to use a leader that is longer and will come in and out of the guides during casting or fish fighting. This knot is incredible for that purpose. It is incredibly strong and also is as smooth as the line itself allowing it to be cast or reeled in under tension without ever hanging on a guide. Tying it on a rocking boat, in a hurry with the wind blowing is difficult. I usually use this knot when I have plenty of time in my rigging room the night before. There are many ways to tie this knot and you may find one that works better for you than the way I tie it. If so, go for it. You definitely don't need to tie it like me, the only thing that matters is that the knot is strong and you don't lose any fish.
