Tom Rowland heads into the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia with trout fisherman Will Taylor

Last year, Tom and Rich had the please of fishing with Will Taylor from Blue Ridge, GA in the Florida Keys. Known for being an avid trout fisherman and guide, Will experiences first hand catching some Spanish mackerel and permits. Will mentions to the Captains that the trout he catches every day in Blue Ridge are at least the hearty size of the mackerel, and Tom is ready to take that challenge. Trout and permit are closely similar, in that the way to catch these picky fish is from fly fishing, and noting that these fish are difficult to bring in.

In the Blue Ridge Mountains in Northern Georgia, you can find some of the biggest trout in the United States. Blue Ridge, known as the trout capital of the world, is located in Fannin County, where you are able to find several thousand miles of rivers and streams full of these beautiful fish. Trout Guide Will Taylor takes Captain Tom to the Valley at Suches where he is able to try his hand at catching some legendary rainbow trout. Owner of the Valley at Suches Trout Fly Fishing is Bob Still, who created this area intended for couples on vacation, but later attracted anglers of all levels from around the country for their rumored amount of rainbow trout.

In 20 degree weather, with extremely clear water, Tom is able to catch quite a few rainbow trouts averaging in 24 inches of length with Will netting every catch. At the end of the trip, Will says the trout just keep getting bigger from there, and Tom is definitely ready for his next fishing adventure in Blue Ridge with Will.
