S13:E9 - “Jeff Malone And The Gulf Wrecks” (2018)

Tom & Rich meet up with guide Jeff Malone and tap into his knowledge of wrecks in the Gulf

The Saltwater Experience crew, Tom Rowland and Rich Tudor meet up in the Gulf with guide Jeff Malone and learn from him about wrecks in the Gulf. Located about 30-40 miles away from Duck Key, the Gulf of Mexico has quite a few shallow areas of pieces of debris located at the bottom. As a result, fish such as grouper, yellowtail snappers, and Jack Crevalle frequent towards these areas. Jeff Malone, a guide located in the Gulf and charters TarponTime, has such a passion for what he’s doing and always is ready to go fishing in his spare time. One of the key tricks to fishing on the west wind, like the Gulf of Mexico, is to slowly chip away in different areas. While out on the water, the guys find a school of permit and cobias, but are observant of the barracuda lingering by. After catching and releasing one of the barracudas, they spot a bull shark quickly approaching and grabbing the barracuda they had just released. Riding away from the storm, the Captains head home after a long day.

As always, we had Jason Stemple with us to document this trip in ultra high quality still photos.  Here are some of my favorites.  Enjoy!
