How To Tie The Bowline Knot - Every Outdoorsman Must Know This Knot

One of the most useful knots of all is the Bowline Knot.

Fishermen, Hunters, Sailors, College kids trying to move a couch on top of a Ford Focus, Horse Packers, Backpackers, Dog-sitters and stay at home Mom's all could benefit greatly from knowing the Bowline.  Sooner or later, we will all need to tie a rope to something.  When you do there are two hopes:

1. I hope that knot will hold

2. I hope I can get it untied

The Bowline can easily accomplish both of these concerns.  If you don't know this knot, please learn it for the benefit of mankind.  Better yet, teach it to your children while you are at it.

I use the Bowline to tie up my boat, or secure anything to anything in a way that it will easily be untied and used again.  If you are an outdoorsman of any kind, you should be able to tie this knot blindfolded.  Not blindfolded in a figurative sense, you should actually close your eyes and be able to tie it.  You will need it one night when your flashlight is broken or you are unable to see for some reason.  Watch this video here

I use it also to secure my boat to the trailer or secure the cooler to the raft or something to the top of my truck.  In this post, I show you how to use the Bowline, Truckers Hitch and Half hitch to securely tie anything down.  Now that you can tie a Bowline blindfolded, go read that post and learn the other two.  You will be happy that you did and your friends will be very impressed the next time you have to help someone move a BBQ Grill or something.

Let me know how you use this knot by posting a comment below.

All the best,
