FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO WE PAY OUR GUIDE?

After you make your 20% deposit with Saltwater Experience on a credit card, the balance of your trip will be paid directly to your guide. Not all guides accept credit cards so please make contact with your guide to discuss accepted forms of payment. Cash and Travelers Checks are always accepted and personal checks are usually accepted. Credit Cards are accepted by Saltwater Experience but not many independent guides accept credit cards.

WHERE WILL WE MEET OUT GUIDE

Where will we meet our guide?
Each guide has a different meeting time and place depending on the weather and fishing conditions. It is ALWAYS best to check in with your guide the night before your trip by phone to go over the plans for the next day.

WHAT IF WE CAN NOT GET IN TOUCH WITH OUR GUIDE?

Accidents do happen, cell phones are dropped in the water and other problems may arise in extreme situations that may prevent you from making contact with your guide the night before. Call 1-877-FISH-305 and talk to Michelle if ANY problems come up.

IS THERE A BATHROOM ON THE BOAT?

No bathrooms will be on boats under 28 feet long and even some boats over that do not have facilities. Sometimes we can head to a beach or back to the marina if necessary but plans should be made to stay out all day.

DO I NEED A LICENCE?

No license is required to fish with a professional guide through Saltwater Experience Outfitters. Florida requires us to purchase a license for an entire year.

WILL THE GUIDE HAVE A COOLER AND ICE ABOARD?

Yes, all boats are equipped with a cooler and ice. Please do not bring your own cooler as there will be no room for it.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

You need to bring what you would like to eat and drink as that is not provided by the Captain. Please bring your preferred sunscreen, hat, polarized glasses, your own rain jacket, camera, a pleasant attitude and two arms ready to catch fish.

WHAT SHOULD I NOT BRING?

Do not bring black soled shoes that will mark the deck of the boat. Make sure the sole is a non-marking sole. Do not bring too much. Try to fit everything into a small bag.

DO WE NEED EXPERIENCE?

No, no experience necessary but we would like to tailor your trip to your expectations. If you have no experience, please tell us in advance so we can set you up with a patient guide who enjoys giving instruction. There are many different species to fish for and some lend themselves to catching far more than others. Communication is the key to having a great time and helping us to deliver the trip that YOU want.

HOW DO I PAY THE BALANCE OF OUR TRIP?

Please check with your guide to determine the methods of payment that he accepts. Many guides do not take credit cards. Cash, Travelers Checks, Personal Checks and Credit Cards are all acceptable to Saltwater Experience Staff Guides.

HOW MANY FISH WILL I CATCH?

The answer to this one depends on the weather, your skill level, species targeted, type of tackle used and many other factors. We can give you an idea of how many fish might considered a good day but that is no guarantee that you will catch that many. If actually catching large numbers of fish is top priority, please let us know that in advance and we can suggest trips to accommodate your situation.

IS THAT A CRUISE SHIP?

If it has a lot of windows, bright colors and says “…Cruise Line” on the side in 25 foot tall letters, yes, it is a cruise ship.

DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN RODS?

Bring your own rods if they are easy to transport and it is equipment that you are used to using. Make sure it is capable of handling the fish that we are going to pursue. There is no need to bring your favorite Crappie rod.

PLEASE READ CANCELLATION POLICY

We take a 20% deposit for all trips booked. This deposit is completely refunded if your trip is cancelled due to weather or mechanical failure. Weather cancellations are at the discretion of the captain. If cancellation occurs between 14 and 3 days before the trip, your deposit will not be refunded. If cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the scheduled trip, the customer will be charged in full for the trip. Cancellations must be submitted in writing by email to tom@saltwaterexperience.com or by fax to 305-294-7447
